The Charger works as advertised. instructions could be clearer/better set-up.As far as durability and as advertised...how can it be waterproof if it warps, splits and cracks? It was put in service after a while after it was purchased and installed with the suction cups on the windshield, came back a month and a half later and this is what I found.Have not contacted the company yet...REVISED REVIEW...I reached out to Frank who has been responsive for past questions. He promptly sent out a new, "Updated" unit. I have not been able to compare the original and "updated" unit side by side due to there are in different states at this time, but his immediate action and also the response given to other purchases says something. The company is making a prompt, exceptional effort to stand behind their product, especially when other companies blame "the pandemic" on everything. Hopefully it will be in service shortly and I will follow-up.I also could not find my original review...but found this inn my account records.Let's see if they upgrade materials, packaging was a little better...looking for remote technical staff...I may be interested.Thank you again Frank! With the pandemic, my car isn't getting used much so the battery was dying on me when I left it for more than a week. I decided to try out this one. It's mostly been good, but not without some issues. When I initially installed it, I did so through the cigarette lighter as that seemed like the easiest way, although the instructions mention this won't work on some cars. For about two weeks this worked fine and I would see the flashing red light when it was connected. A couple of weeks later I went out to my car and it was dead. The panel was flashing green instead of red, which means it was getting sunlight but was not charging my battery. I jumped the car and switched to the alligator clamps. With the alligator clamps, it went back to working. Fortunately my car is very odd and the battery is under the passenger seat, so it's not that inconvenient to connect it this way, though I preferred the cigarette lighter method. I really don't know why it worked initially and then stopped working. So, right now I'd cautiously recommend this item. My car has been fine since I switched to the clamps and since that's the method that's guaranteed to work, I'll go with it. If you're buying this planning to use the cigarette lighter adapter, you may be disappointed. One final note, the first one I received arrived with a shattered panel. I didn't reflect this in my rating because it could have been a shipping error, but in truth I think it's more of a packaging problem. The box is simply too small to fit both the panel and the attached accessories (cables, suction cups), so the accessories are sitting on top of the solar panel with absolutely no room or cushioning. Any kind of stacking of the boxes in the warehouse could cause the panel to break because of this. The box should be designed so the accessories sit next to the panel, not on top. This is a maintenance system, not something to stick onto a dead battery and expect it to completely charge. My initial charge was on my winch battery on a car haul trailer, which was not dead, but just not fully charged. Over several days, it produced current and increased the available charge on the battery to my satisfaction.I placed it on to my RV. The LED indicator flashed differently from what it was on my car hauler. I checked connections to no avail. I sent customer service a message. I fully explained what was occurring. Come to find out, the amount of volts that was available in this battery was too low for the charger to work. On a 12-volt battery, the battery must be above 6 volts. If it isn't above 6v, the LED will flash green. The following day after I received my initial email from customer service, which was by the way very late on Friday night and went back and forth for five separate emails to make sure that I was clear on their directions, which are not really that clear online, I met success. I hooked up my battery charger, and got my battery to a point that will allow the solar charger to operate sufficiently. I think that the company would be miles ahead to produce a FAQ sheet, along with clear directions regarding the LED lights, and possible solutions. they customer service that I received was excellent. I really appreciate their willingness to contact me light of a night, and make sure that I understood the operations of their maintenance charger.I have this connector to my vehicle properly and it was in the sun 75% of the day for the Winter season.. When I went to start it and may it wouldn't start it had a dead battery.I have this 10W model hooked up through the fuse box with an add-a-circuit plug. I used a multimeter to find which contacts were still live even after most get shut off once the car is off for some time. It has kept my battery plenty charged for over a year now even when I'm not driving for a while and even through short and cloudy days. Suction cups are very effective but I generally just set it on the dash. The charging indicator light is helpful and shows it's charging as long as it gets some reasonable light, it doesn't have to be full sunlight. Only negative really is that the way the SAE connector is set up the exposed contact will be the 12V live on the car side, so I try to keep an insulator cap on when it's not plugged in.I purchased two BC-12W panels to mount side-by-side for charging my trailer and ATV batteries. After 7 months of use, I noticed one of the panel's indicator light was out and stopped indicating status on my battery. No blinking red or green or solid red or green.... nothing. I contacted customer service and explained the issue with one of my panels and they immediately sent out a replacement panel with no questions asked. I understand that issues arise with products, but it is refreshing to purchase from a company that stands behind their products and provides such excellent customer service. Definitely will continue to purchase products from this company!Dave T. from WI
