The old, heavy, plug in vacuum we had was definitely a struggle to use for that. Being able to break this down and just use it as a little hand-vac is perfect up there.It will not do an entire house of carpet on a single charge. We have all hard floors with a few rugs about. It works good on the rugs and great on the hard floors. The wife loves that it's cordless, and doesn't hate vacuuming like she did with the old big corded vacuum.Small canister. Needs to be emptied pretty often, but it's a small vacuum. So that's to be expected. Works pretty good for pet hair. My lab was in her spring molt when we got this, and it kept up pretty good. It has two speeds, and I'm not sure why. I have never used it on the lower speed mode. I suppose it's to be able to claim a longer max battery life. In our small carpetless house though, the battery lasts long enough to do the whole thing on high speed.
